The following is a direct quote:

Recently, a heated e-mail exchange between teachers on either side of the issue circulated beyond their electronic in-boxes and into the community, becoming an issue at the district level.

A teacher at Erskine Elementary wrote that “Highland teachers will not p*** the idiots at Anderson High,” and referred to AHS student athletes as “thugs.”

The recipient, an Anderson High School teacher, responded with a vulgarity. “Your pride may not be able to save” Highland, the recipient wrote.

“It’s probably in the hands of kids by now and it concerns me,” said interim Superintendent Lennon Brown. He said the e-mails were sent from ACS computers. “We have met with both parties. It is not a laughing matter.”

Yeah, I guess Brown is right;
It's almost funny,
but not quite...

Naw, they are all little angels. Like the ones who almost beat the kid to death at AHS a few months ago. Just poor misunderstood angels.

Kids are kids across the district. Just as many bad kids at HHS as at AHS.

My son went through SSMS and is now at AHS. He isn't addicted to drugs, he isn't a thug and neither are his friends.

You will find what you want to find no matter where you look for it.

I'd like to see the comparison between AHS & HHS as far as major disiplinary issues. Not just some kid getting poked in the nose, I'm not condoning it but it's going to happen. I'm talking serious incidents. Which school leads the pack?

My money is on AHS.

We moved to Anderson 10 years ago and see no differece between kids that go to HHS and kids that go to AHS. They are all Anderson kids to us. My son goes to AHS and was very hurt by those statements. There are many students at AHS that are not 'idiots and thugs' while I'll bet that there are also 'idiots and thugs at HHS. They are all the same to me. I have taught in elementaeries all over the city, and all of the students are the same.

In no way do I condone what was said. However, to say all kids are the same is not realistic. Parents should worry about who their kids hang out with and frankly I am sick of people trying to make me feel guilty for that. (I'm not talking about you Nubiangeek) Kids are different, very different and an involved parent SHOULD be very careful as to who their kids hang out with.

Every child is unique and special. But all schools in ACS face similar discipline problems. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but you would be surprised how similar they are.

Well, thanks to Metta, I do have the numbers in front of me, and with regard to suspensions in the elementary schools, I see an extreme difference in the numbers.

Thanks Metta.

It is an undenialbe conclusion to reach that Metta's post has put some posts on this thread in the "doubtful" category...

Yea, it's hard to argue the numbers. Quick glimpse:

07/08 stats
Valley Grove student body = 684 Suspensions = 18 Average cl*** size = 20

compared to

Anderson Elem student body = 361
Suspensions = 88 Average cl*** size = 13

I had, at one time found the actual school stats on the reasons for the suspensions. I'll post them when I can.

And thanks back at ya OWO. Off topic, I think we talked poetry in days gone by? Something about "he asked me would I yes..." lol in the days when I was known as mbrook...

Sorry Tobi, I am siding with the others on this one. The numbers are quite clear and do indeed represent a significantly higher amount of discipline issues at AHS.

It is also interesting that the schools with the least discipline issues in the system likely won't be around next year.

I believe I am 'down to earth'. I am from Indy. Anderson students do not compare to Indy students. Indy students are a lot worse. In all of the elementaries I ahve seen the same problems. This is what I am saying. I have seen the same problems. In some schools you have more of the problems than other schools, but it is the same problems. I don't feel that any school or group of kids is any better than any other. They are all Anderson kids to me.
