It is definetely hard on those affected and I don't mean to make light of that in anyway. But also from a taxpayer standpoint cuts need to be made. Whether the right cuts have been made and what the consequencies will be only time will tell.

I was surprised and shocked to see the lack of loyalty the county employees showed each other.

They apparently cheered when choosing layoffs -- which would certainly not save jobs -- over wage reductions, which might save all...

Some of those people have worked together for 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 years...

Is this all being done even though they voted for "Tax" increases to "save" jobs etc.?

Sometimes, in a protected work environment, folks get employed that are so bad they make you cheer when they depart.....just a thought.

Sometimes it is the case even in a non-protected environment....

I did not use one = sign, but two. I was trying to create a dash of sorts.
Still, I stand by what I said, eliminating the crime lab is stupid.

Is it more cost effective to use the state police lab and more importantly, is it as effective?

It is amazing how some people don't care when someone else lose their job. I don't like to see people layed off because I know how it feels. But I was young and had nobody to worry about but me. People didn't care when we lost our steel industry, our clothing industry, our electronics indudstry and our auto industry. They didn't want our government to save it. The same industry that made the war materials that won the war against the Germans and the Japs. The question is, how many of the laid-off people drive foreign cars and do all their shopping at Walmart, buying Chinese goods driving all of the American business out of business. Making it so no one works here, who makes no money to buy products and pay taxes. If you ask these people why they drive a foreign car or buy foreign goods they say, "I'm an American and I have the right to buy anything I want." Well a Pogo said, "We have discovered the enemy and it's us." Tell me Forum, how do we educate these dumbies and get this country working again?
