ANDERSON, IN - Steve Wallace raced BMX bicycles in the early 1980s, but he had to retire due to a nerve disorder called 'Dystonia' which affects his muscles and speech. Wallace raced at NBL and ABA tracks all over. He's still involved in BMX, through, promoting the sport anyway he can. He celebrated 25 years in the BMX Industry May 13, 2009. What started a couple years ago as "Wallace BMX Day," has been turned into "Wallace BMX Month," which will fill the entire month of March.

There are tracks that are getting ready for the 2010 season and some that are racing indoors still. Wallace BMX Month gives you a whole month to get involved with your local track; geting your bike ready for spring or racing, taking your bike to your local bike shop for a tune up, or simply going for a bike ride with your family.

BMX has always been a family sport and a non-profit organization. Wallace BMX Month is also a month to volunteer, teaching kids bicycle safety - wearing a helmet when they ride on the street and the rules of the road.

"I have always loved racing and bicycling in general. And since I can't do either one anymore, I like to help others get their start in racing or just teach kids the basics about bikes and bicycling. I know it kept me out of trouble too," Wallace said.
